Microblading for eyebrows
Semi-permanent makeup for eyebrows
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that dramatically corrects or fully reconstructs lost eyebrow hairs. A special medical pen is used to draw on individual strokes (hairs) one by one, inserting cosmetic pigments into the dermis layer of the skin. It can help define, shape, and create fullness in the eyebrow area. Using this technique, we create your brow strand-by-strand, for the most natural-looking 3D-like results; perfectly filled-in, and balanced. The brow shape and color is custom-made to your facial structure and preferences. Results can last up to 18 months, depending on a variety of factors such as color of pigment, skin type, and lifestyle and aftercare.
WHY BLUE WATER SPA FOR MICROBLADING?
At Blue Water Spa our Microblading technicians have worked in the beauty and Aesthetic industry for 15+ years. Before introducing microblading to our clients, we performed an internal study, using staff members and others. ALL BEFORE AND AFTER IMAGES ON OUR SITE ARE OUR OWN CLIENTS and not stock photos or images provided by an outside party. Our microblading specialists have had special training to understand facial anatomy, make up artistry and brow position and are accustomed to fine detail work, including lash extensions. We employ the best techniques and uphold the highest standards of safety and cleanliness. We believe each hair should look real, should be fluid and enhance your facial features. Therefore, it’s important to view many before and after pictures prior to scheduling your treatment.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Microblading is a semi-permanent treatment. However, results typically last up to 18 months. Hair color, skin type, after-care, and lifestyle also affect longevity of the results. Occasional touch-ups are a way to refresh the results. Done correctly, the treatments do not change color, and fade naturally away with time. For areas such as brows, this allows future flexibility with shape, as standards of beauty change.
IS IT PAINFUL?
We use medical numbing creams that are FDA approved and highly effective. Most patients report that they have little to no discomfort during the treatment process. We will do everything we can to ensure you are comfortable during the treatment.
IS IT SAFE?
All our pigments are cosmetic grade, meaning that they are sterilized and purified for cosmetic use. The ingredients used have been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use. Be wary of products that have not met safety standards, including those that contain “vegetable dyes” that are unstable and may change color after time. In addition, all our tools are single-use and discarded after the treatment.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A CONSULTATION?
During your consultation your brow hair grade and color is analyzed, and the desired shape is drawn on with a specialized pencil. Please bring in reference pictures if you have an ideal shape or color in mind. We will then draw each strand to create a symmetrical, natural-looking brow that is custom-made for your bone structure, giving you the chance to see how dramatically new brows change your face prior to the treatment actually being performed. Once you are satisfied with the shape and thickness, our technician will consult with you on color— we will mix and match hues to ensure we get a shade that is closest to your natural hair color, or desired hair color if your brows are grey, white or lighter than you desire. We will also discuss the procedure, the after-care, how long it takes the skin to heal, and how to ensure the best results.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A MICROBLADING TREATMENT?
The technician will create your brow by hand, strand by strand to get to the shape that is made just for you. We take into account existing brow shape, your facial structure, and your preferences. Once we decide on the brow form, we consult on the color. A customized hue is mixed to order (we will track the formulation, for future touch-ups), from pigments made with FDA-certified ingredients made in the USA. A topical numbing cream is applied that stays on for about 20 minutes, and then a special tool is used to make small, hair-shaped incisions in the skin underneath the brow-known as Microblading. The shallow cuts are filled with highest-grade pharmaceutical pigments selected to match or darken arches. The treatment takes about 1 ½ -2 hours, with enough time to assess each step of the way.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING AND TRADITIONAL PERMANENT MAKEUP?
One of the most obvious differences between microblading and permanent make-up is how it looks. Permanent make-up is an older technique that uses a tattoo gun to create a thick solid line. It is designed to resemble make-up, but can often look very unnatural. Microblading is not designed to look like make-up. Instead, it’s meant to look like actual hair strokes. That realistic look even helped earn microblading the nickname “3D brows.” Over time, the pigment in permanent make-up may turn blue or brown, whereas the ink used in microblading procedures will not.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
There is no downtime, however the brow will take about one week to fully heal. The brow may appear darker than you are used to for a few days, then will lighten into the desired color within two weeks. The brow will soften in color by up to 40-50%. During this period, after-care procedures should be carefully followed.
Between the initial treatment and the Perfecting Session, you may experience peeling (typically noticeable only up close) and fading of the brow. This is natural and part of the treatment process.
WHAT IS THE PERFECTING SESSION?
The Perfecting Session, done within four to six weeks of the initial treatment, is extremely important to ensure desired results. The Perfecting Session will build on the color that has already been absorbed into the skin. We use this session to set the shape and color, and make any small adjustments if needed.
Apply our specially-made after-care Serum (for healing) and Cream (for protection) for the best results. Use a q-tip to apply to eyebrows. Do not pick at the brow when the color starts to peel. To be certain color is not compromised, please avoid the following for 10 days after treatment: sun exposure, saunas, excessive sweating, and brow makeup, soaps or acids in the brow area. Avoid the following for two weeks: swimming and facials/peels.
