How can I get the best results from CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting freezes fat that is then metabolized through the body. This process relies on the lymphatic system to help with the elimination of the treated fat. At Blue Water Spa / Michael law MD, we offer CoolSculpting Complete which includes vibrational therapy at no additional fee. This device is designed to increase circulation and assist with lymphatic drainage. As a patient, we suggest that you watch your diet, avoid processed, particularly salty foods and increase your water intake. Some kind of moderate exercises daily, such as walking, will also increase circulation and support the lymphatic system. Our providers will use a mechanical massaging device in additional to manual massage on the treated area to increase results by 68%. We also offer post treatment compression binders for patient comfort. We want our patients to have the best opportunity possible to achieve optimal results so we created this comprehensive treatment plan to give our patients the very best service.

How does CoolSculpting Work?
CoolSculpting technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin itself unaffected. Treated fat cells are crystalized (frozen), then die. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you. Untreated areas will have no change in fat cell distribution.

Who is a good candidate for CoolSculpting?
The ideal CoolSculpting candidate is within 30lbs. of their ideal body weight and have specific areas of stubborn excess fat. The fat pad should be well defined and pinchable. If loose skin is a primary concern then CoolSculpting may not be ideal and Laser Skin Tightening may be an option. Patients should be in good health and not have immune disorders. A personal consultation is important to have a CoolSculpting provider review your medical history, discuss the treatment, and assess your body to determine if CoolSculpting is right for you.

Is CoolSculpting a weight loss procedure?
No, CoolSculpting is a spot reducing procedure. However, some patients do find that they lose some weight after CoolSculpting sessions.

How many sessions are required to see results with CoolSculpting?
There are some practices that promote significant changes after a single treatment. Although it is true that some people will see a significant change after one treatment, we would prefer to have our clients prepared for two sessions for the most benefit. For larger, or more stubborn areas, some people may need as many a three sessions. Although it is impossible to absolutely predict the result, during a consultation, our technicians can give you an idea of what to expect during a treatment, and how many treatments you might need for optimal results.

How long does a procedure take?
Each CoolSculpting session takes 35 minutes per area. In the office of Blue Water Spa / Michael Law MD, we offer CoolSculpting Complete, using two CoolSculpting® units. We also recommend that clients return for a series of 10 minute vibrational therapy sessions to enhance results by stimulating lymphatic drainage. This is a pleasant treatment that we offer at no additional charge in order to provide our patients the best results possible.

Does it hurt?
People respond differently to CoolSculpting. Some people find mild discomfort associated with the procedure and side effects. The first few minutes of each session may be uncomfortable as the tissue is drawn into the applicator and the cooling begins. Most people find that the area goes numb with cold and the remainder of the treatment is comfortable. When the applicator is removed the provider will massage the area to destroy up to 68% more fat cells. Many patients say that this tickles and is mildly uncomfortable. The treated area may ache for a few minutes after treatment as it warms back to body temperature. After the treatment patients may feel tender in the treated area and can wear the provided compression binder to ease discomfort. Some patients report discomfort approximately one week after the treatment as the fat is being processed through the body. This, again, is why lymphatic drainage is important.

What do I do during a session?
Many patients enjoy watching Netflix or napping during their CoolSculpting treatment. Movement is limited during your treatment so it is not recommended to bring activities to occupy your time. We want you to sit back and relax.

Can I return to normal activities after my treatment?
Yes you can. The procedure is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to your normal activities immediately. Some patients may experience redness, minor bruising, tingling, numbness or discomfort in the treated area, but this is temporary and will resolve completely. Most patients return to work immediately after the session is over.
