Microblading for eyebrows
Semi-permanent makeup for eyebrows
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that dramatically corrects or fully reconstructs lost eyebrow hairs. A special medical pen is used to draw on individual strokes (hairs) one by one, inserting cosmetic pigments into the epidermis layer of the skin. It can help define, shape, and create fullness in the eyebrow area. Using this technique, we create your brow strand-by-strand, for the most natural-looking 3D-like results; perfectly filled-in, and balanced. The brow shape and color is custom-made to your facial structure and preferences. Results can last around 18 months on average, depending on a variety of factors such as color of pigment, skin type, and lifestyle and aftercare.
WHY BLUE WATER SPA FOR MICROBLADING?
At Blue Water Spa our Microblading technicians have worked in the beauty and Aesthetic industry for 15+ years. Before introducing microblading to our clients, we performed an internal study, using staff members and others. ALL BEFORE AND AFTER IMAGES ON OUR SITE ARE OUR OWN CLIENTS and not stock photos or images provided by an outside party. Our microblading specialists have had special training to understand facial anatomy, make up artistry and brow position and are accustomed to fine detail work, including lash extensions. We employ the best techniques and uphold the highest standards of safety and cleanliness. We believe each hair should look real, should be fluid and enhance your facial features. Therefore, it’s important to view many before and after pictures prior to scheduling your treatment.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Microblading is a semi-permanent treatment. However, results typically last up to 18 months. Hair color, skin type, after-care, and lifestyle also affect longevity of the results. Occasional touch-ups are a way to refresh the results. Done correctly, the treatments do not change color, and fade naturally away with time. For areas such as brows, this allows future flexibility with shape, as standards of beauty change.
IS IT PAINFUL?
We use medical numbing creams that are FDA approved and highly effective. Most patients report that they have little to no discomfort during the treatment process. We will do everything we can to ensure you are comfortable during the treatment.
IS IT SAFE?
All our pigments are cosmetic grade, meaning that they are sterilized and purified for cosmetic use. The ingredients used have been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use. Be wary of products that have not met safety standards, including those that contain “vegetable dyes” that are unstable and may change color after time. In addition, all our tools are single-use and discarded after the treatment.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A CONSULTATION?
The technician will discuss with you the look you are trying to achieve. You will go over what happens during the treatment and you may ask any questions you have to ensure you know what to expect. The technician will go over some questions with you to make sure you are a good candidate and will let you know what you will want to do to prepare for your appointment.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A MICROBLADING TREATMENT?
The technician will create your brow by hand, strand by strand to get to the shape that is made just for you. We take into account existing brow shape, your facial structure, and your preferences. Once we decide on the brow form, we consult on the color. A customized hue is mixed to order (we will track the formulation, for future touch-ups), from pigments made with FDA-certified ingredients made in the USA. A topical numbing cream is applied that stays on for about 20 minutes, and then a special tool is used to make small, hair-shaped incisions in the skin underneath the brow-known as Microblading. The shallow cuts are filled with highest-grade pharmaceutical pigments selected to match or darken arches. The treatment takes about 2 hours, with enough time to assess each step of the way.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING AND TRADITIONAL PERMANENT MAKEUP?
One of the most obvious differences between microblading and permanent make-up is how it looks. Permanent make-up is an older technique that uses a machine to create a more powder filled in look. It is designed to resemble make-up and is meant to enter the dermis layer of the skin, which makes it more permanent. Microblading is not designed to look like make-up. Instead, it’s meant to look like actual hair strokes. That realistic look even helped earn microblading the nickname “3D brows.” Microblading is also meant to stay above the dermis layer of the skin, making it fade typically over a period of 18 months on average.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
There is no downtime, however the brow will take about one week to fully heal. The brow may appear darker than you are used to for a few days, then will lighten into the desired color within two weeks. The brow will soften in color by up to 40-50%. During this period, after-care procedures should be carefully followed.
Between the initial treatment and the Perfecting Session, you may experience peeling (typically noticeable only up close) and fading of the brow. This is natural and part of the treatment process.
WHAT IS THE PERFECTING SESSION?
The Perfecting Session, done within four to six weeks of the initial treatment, is extremely important to ensure desired results. The Perfecting Session will build on the color that has already been absorbed into the skin. We use this session to set the shape and color, and make any small adjustments if needed.
After care protective balms will be determined based on your skin type. You will be given instructions at your appointment time. Do not pick at the brow when the color starts to peel. To be certain color is not compromised, please avoid the following for 10 days after treatment: sun exposure, saunas, excessive sweating, and brow makeup, soaps or acids in the brow area. Avoid the following for two weeks: swimming and facials/peels.
